Sole survivor of RMAF training tragedy in stable condition
two people at the Syed Sirajuddin Camp in Gemas is now in stable condition. The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) in a statement said doctors were closely monitoring trainer Koperal Udara Khairuzaman Lokman 35, who is undergoing treatment at the Segamat Hospital in Johor.
Khairuzaman, who is from Kluang, is a trainer at the Sendayan Air Force base here. Two other RMAF personnel died following the incident around 12.10pm on Sunday (June 25).The two have been identified as trainee Mohd Iqmal Masdi, 22 and trainer Koperal Udara Syuib Bidin, 33. Mohd Iqmal was killed on the spot while Syuib died around 5.45pm at the Segamat Hospital. The duo were also from the Sendayan base.
All three were involved in a shooting and grenade handling training at the Basic Grenade Training Centre at the camp when the incident happened. Police and RMAF are conducting separate investigations into the incident
“The Air Force deeply regrets the incident and will ensure the welfare of the families concerned and the funerals of the victims would be carried out accordingly,” it said.
