Sex video: PKR to issue show-cause letter to Haziq

PETALING JAYA: PKR will issue a show-cause letter to its Santubong youth chief Muhammad Haziq Abdul Aziz for allegedly tarnishing the party’s name by implicating deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali in a sex scandal.

PKR disciplinary board chairman Datuk Ahmad Kassim said the show-cause letter will be issued today and Haziq will have 14 days to reply.

The decision was made at the party’s political bureau meeting held yesterday, after considering Azmin’s denial of being involved in the sex scandal.

“We will also wait for the authorities to complete their investigation on the matter,” said Ahmad, who also cautioned party members from making baseless allegations against top leadership.

On related matter, PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the decision against Haziq was made after consulting all party leaders, including vice president Zuraida Kamaruddin who called for Haziq’s sacking yesterday.

“She was in the meeting and there was a consensus. The attendance was almost full, except for deputy president Azmin.

“All expressed their views but the decision stands as decided by the disciplinary board,” said Anwar, who chaired the bureau political meeting yesterday.

When asked on Azmin’s claim that the sex video was perpetrated by party insiders, Anwar stressed the need for Azmin to produce evidence to support his claims.

“There are forums that the party must respect and observe,” he said.

Two weeks ago, unknown persons disseminated a series of sex videos allegedly showing Haziq having gay sex with Azmin.

While Haziq admitted it was him in the videos, Azmin had denied the allegations and lodged police report on the matter.

Haziq has been suspended from his post as senior private secretary to Deputy Primary Industries Minister Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin last week.
