SD of Anwar having majority support of MPs to become PM is fake

PETALING JAYA: A statutory declaration (SD) purportedly by PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim claiming he has two-thirds support of MPs to replace Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as prime minister is fake, says PKR communications chief Fahmi Fadzil.
“The commissioner of oaths who was said to have signed the SD had also said that it is a fake document.
“I believe that the SD was maliciously fabricated by those who wish to take advantage of the current situation for their own political agenda,” he said.
Fahmi, who is also Lembah Pantai MP said the message, circulated among Pakatan Harapan members, was accompanied by news reports about the SD, dated July 1.
The SD further claimed that Anwar would now seek advice from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong for the transition of power.
“I also agree that if the transfer of power does happen, I will appoint Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as deputy prime minister to replace Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail,” stated the fake SD.
Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had several times reiterated that he would relinquish his post to Anwar in two years-time.
However, he did not provide details on when the transition of power would take place.
Recently, Anwar issued a statement saying that his deputy, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali should quit if the authorities confirm that he is one of the men featured having gay sex in viral video disseminated last month.
Azmin, who is also Economic Affairs Minister, shot back by saying Anwar should ‘look in the mirror’ before talking, alluding to the latter’s sex scandals and conviction of sodomy charges.
Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Abdul Hamid Bador said that a leader of a political party had spent hundreds of thousands of ringgit on the video as an attempt to end Azmin’s career.
He also said that the sex video had been verified as genuine by CyberSecurity Malaysia, but the identities of the duo in the video could not be determined.
