Anwar: Azmin needs to go if he is the one in the sex video

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said his deputy, Mohamed Azmin ali should resign from his post if he is conclusively identified as one of the two men exposed in a viral sex video.
“If the investigations are conclusive, he needs to resign. However, if we have not ascertained the truth about the two guys in the video, then Azmin has the option.
“It is subject to whether the police or the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission have ascertained the veracity of the video.
“And if he is identified conclusively, then he needs to resign,” said Anwar during a press conference at the Parliament lobby today.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said that Azmin, who is also Economic Affairs Minister, need not go on leave until the investigation on the sex video is complete.
Mahathir said this in response to Deputy Primary Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin statement yesterday who called upon those accused in the sex video to go on leave.
Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Huzir Mohamed revealed that Cybersecurity Malaysia had identified the duo in the sex video clip but refused to divulge on the details.
The police have arrested and remanded nine people so far, including Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak, who is Perak PKR state chief and Anwar’s political secretary in relation to the case.
On Farhash’s arrest, Anwar said he was surprised by the recent development and unsure why his aide was detained.
“But I’m sure the police have their reasons and investigations should proceed,” said the former deputy prime minister.
On claims that Farhash was linked to some ‘higher-up masterminds’ in PKR, Anwar said, “Higher than me is Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.”
Whether the scandal had divided the party, Anwar replied in the negative.
“They are all behind the party leadership on this. Let the police investigate,” he said.
