MUIP wants to help hospitals replace obsolete equipment

KUANTAN: To ensure hospital patients get access to effective treatment, the Pahang Islamic and Malay Customs Council (MUIP) is inviting applications from state hospitals to finance the replacement of obsolete equipment.

“We’re cognizant of the fact that the Ministry of Health (MOH) has to pay a lot for expensive equipment replacement.

“So, for the sake of patient welfare, we can discuss helping hospitals replace vital equipment like dialysis machines, ventilators and so on,” said MUIP deputy president, Datuk Seri Wan Abdul Wahid Wan Hassan, today at a zakat contribution ceremony at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan (HTAA).

During the ceremony, Pahang branch Malaysian Medical Welfare Fund (TKPM) received RM350,000, National Cancer Council of Malaysia (MAKNA) received RM100,000, National Intraocular Lens Implant Bank (BKIOK) received RM100,000 and HTAA received a Cycler Homechoice peritoneal dialysis machine worth RM50,000.

State Health Department deputy director, Datuk Dr Rohaya Abdul Rahman, HTAA director Dr Norazmi Abdullah and TKPM chairman, Harolhanam Mohamed Wahid, were also present.

Wan Abdul Wahid said MUIP has been channelling help to the medical sector since 2010, and amounting to approximately RM13 million.
