Zuraida: Admitting guilt is sufficient ground to sack

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR vice president Zuraida Kamaruddin today defended her call for the sacking of Muhammad Haziq Abdul Aziz from the party as the latter had admitted to committing a wrongdoing.

She said the situation was different compared to PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali’s case, who had denied his involvement in the sex video controversy.

“Anyone who admits to a wrongdoing should be sacked, ” said Zuraida on the sidelines of a press conference on Hi-Home announcing their three month online property sale and housing conference.

Last month, several unknown persons have revealed sex video clips allegedly showing Haziq having gay sex with Azmin in a hotel in Sabah.

While Haziq has admitted to his involvement in the video, Azmin, who is also Economic Affairs Minister, had denied being the man in the video.

Azmin claimed it was an attempt to tarnish his image and end his political career.

Yesterday, Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the police are still investigating the authenticity of the sex video and urged the public to give the authorities more time.

Whether she would call for Azmin’s sacking if Haziq’s allegation was proven true, Zuraida urged the public to let the police conduct their investigations first.

“We will leave it to the authorities to do the investigation and we will abide by its result,” said Zuraida, who is also the Housing and Local Government Minister.

Haziq has been sacked from PKR and his post at the Primary Industries Ministry following his confession.
