Sex video: Police still probing the case, says Muhyiddin

KUALA LUMPUR: The police are still investigating the authenticity of the sex video clip purportedly featuring Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali having sex with former Santubong PKR youth chief Muhammad Haziq Abd Aziz.

Speaking to reporters at the Parliament today, Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin also assured that the police are investigating the case despite the prime minister dismissing the video as fake.

“I think the prime minister is conveying his view of what he feels about the whole situation, but as Minister of Home Affairs, there is already a special task force investigating the matter,” he said.

Last month, several unknown persons exposed a series of video clip via Whatsapp allegedly showing Azmin having gay sex with Haziq.

Haziq has admitted he was one of the persons in the sex video and fingered Azmin as the other party.

However, Azmin had dismissed Haziq’s accusation and claimed it was a vicious plot to tarnish his reputation.

Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had also defended Azmin, saying the video was fake and alleged an it was an attempt to undermine the minister’s political rise.

On when the probe would be completed, Muhyiddin urged the public to give the task force time and vowed that the police will act impartially as the government was serious about safeguarding the agency’s integrity.

“There should be no pressure on the task force to do their job. Let us wait for their report.

“I don’t think it will take a very long time. The authorities may need to do further probing, but it will not go on for years. That is unreasonable, a few weeks or so makes more sense.

“Once the report has been completed, it will be forwarded to the Attorney General for review and further decision,” said the Pagoh MP.
