Zakir Naik slaps Ramasamy with another defamation suit
PUCHONG: Islamic preacher Dr Zakir Naik filed another defamation suit against Penang deputy chief minister II, P Ramasamy recently.
This new suit is the second case filed by the preacher against the DAP leader.
Online news portal Malaysiakini was quoted saying that Ramasamy had confirmed receiving the writ of summons and had since instructed his legal team to respond accordingly.
The new suit was filed based on an article published by The Malaysian Insight entitled ‘DAP leader accuses Zakir camp of faking Tamil Tigers revival’.
In the news report, Ramasamy was alleged to have accused Zakir’s supporters of spearheading a disinformation campaign, purporting that there was a move to revive the defunct Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).
Representing Zakir in the suit is the law firm, Messrs Akberdin & Co.
In Oct, Zakir had sued Ramasamy and several other DAP leaders for defamation.
