Sarawak to set up bio-industrial park in Kota Samarahan
KUCHING: Sarawak will set up its first Bio-Industrial Park in the Kota Samarahan division, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said.
He said Sarawak hopes to attract more foreign investors by producing commercially viable bio-related products.
“I see that SBC has played a vital role through its documentation of traditional knowledge and collaboration campaigns with key players in Research and Development, to leverage on biodiversity discoveries that can be commercialised,” he said.
The text was read by Minister Of Education, Science and Technological Research, Datuk Seri Michael Manyin Jawong at Sarawak Biodiversity Council’s (SBC) 21st anniversary dinner here tonight.
However, Abang Johari did not reveal further when the park would be established.
Meanwhile, SBC chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Wilson Baya Dandot said the Sarawak government has allocated about 100 acres of land to set up the Bio-Industrial Park.
