Rape charges on DAP leader: Lim waiting for police to finish probe

KUALA LUMPUR: The DAP would only decide its next course of action on Perak state executive councillor Paul Yong after the police wrap up their investigations over the rape charges.

Speaking at the Parliament today, DAP secretary general Lim Guan Eng said that he had discussed the matter with Perak menteri besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.

“I have asked Perak DAP to sort out the matter and prepare a report for me. I have also discussed the matter with Perak MB.

“Whether it is at the state administrative or party level, we will wait for the outcome from police investigation.

“So, let us wait before making a decision,” he said.

Yesterday, Yong admitted that he was the DAP leader accused of raping his domestic worker but had rejected the allegations.

Yong was alleged to have committed the offence at his home in Meru, Perak.

Perak police chief Datuk Razarudin Husain said they have taken statements from both Yong and the Indonesian worker, with medical examination also performed on both as part of the investigation.

The domestic worker is currently placed in a safe location.

The case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape.
