Love failure drives form one schoolboy to attempt suicide
BANTING: A Form One male student shocked the teachers and students of a school here today by walking on the roof of the double-storey building and threatening to commit suicide because a fellow female student rejected his expression of love for him.
The school notified the police of the incident, which took place at about 1.30 pm, and Civil Defence Force and Selangor Fire & Rescue Department personnel brought the 13-year-old boy to safety after almost 30 minutes of coaxing, said Kuala Langat District Police chief Supt Azizan Tukiman.
The student was slightly injured in the hands during the rescue and was sent to the Banting Hospital for treatment, he said in a statement.
Azizan said the female student said that she likes another student and not that particular boy.
The boy’s teacher said the boy is a good student who is rather quiet and has no disciplinary record, he said, adding that neither the school nor the boy’s parents had lodged a police report.
Two video clips of 20-second and 69-second duration had gone viral on WhatsApp on the suicide attempt by the student.
