Hisham: Ministry detect sporadic COVID-19 infection from unknown source

PUCHONG: Health Ministry director general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah today said the ministry detected 69 sporadic COVID-19 infection cases from an unknown source.
Hisham said the sporadic cases were detected after more than 8,000 people with influenza like illness (ILI) and severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) were tested for the coronavirus.
“Most people with ILI and SARI who tested positive are related to other clusters after further investigation was done,” he said in a press conference at Putrajaya today.
Hisham said until now, there are four biggest clusters that have been identified as the source of the coronavirus infection in the country.
“The biggest clusters are the religious mass gathering at Sri Petaling with 42% followed by the individual who traveled to Italy, religious mass gathering at Kuching and a wedding at Bandar Baru Bangi,” he said.
Meanwhile, he said 170 new confirmed COVID-19 cases reported today, bringing the total to 3,963.
“80 COVID-19 patients were fully cured and discharged today, bringing the total 1,321,” he said.
He said, one COVID-19 patient death reported to the ministry today, raising the total to 63.
