Fire guts down five houses in Baling
ALOR SETAR: Fire razed five houses and caused a five per cent damage to a nearby house at Kampung Seberang Pekan Baru near Baling yesterday.
Kedah Fire and Rescue Department operation division assistant director Senior Fire Superintendent, I Mohamadul Ehsan Mohd Zain said no casualties were reported in the incident.
He noted that his department received an emergency call at 2.56 pm and the Kuala Ketil Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad (PBS) arrived at the scene three minutes later.
“Upon arrival at the scene, six two-storey class B (half wood, half brick) houses were on fire. The distance between the houses was estimated at about two to three meters,” he said in a brief statement.
Ehsan said the fire was completely extinguished at 6.44 pm by the 18 firefighters from the fire station and PBS.
The cause of the fire and the amount of losses were under investigation.
