Education Ministry deploys crisis team after student fatally stabbed at Bandar Utama school
KUALA LMPUR, Oct 14 — The Education Ministry has sent counsellors and guidance teachers to provide psychosocial support following the fatal stabbing of a student at a school in Bandar Utama, Selangor.
Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the move was to ensure both the school and surrounding community would get assistance in the tragedy.
“A team of counsellors as well as guidance and counselling teachers has been mobilised to provide psychosocial support interventions for students, teachers and the entire school community,” she said in a statement today.
She said a suspect has been arrested and a special committee has been established to ensure a transparent and fair investigation.
Fadhlina also offered her condolences to the victim’s family, expressing hope that they find strength and patience in facing the loss.
She also pledged the ministry’s full cooperation to the authorities as investigations continue.
A Form Four student at a Bandar Utama school died earlier today after she was allegedly stabbed by a Form Two schoolmate.
Police have confirmed detaining the attacker and recovering two weapons, but have yet to determine the motive.
