Dr Sahruddin Jamal, Johor’s 17th Menteri Besar sworn in

JOHOR BARU: Bukit Kepong assemblyman Dr Sahruddin Jamal who was health, environment and agriculture state exco was officially sworn in as the 17th Johor Menteri Besar at Istana Bukit Serene here this morning.

The 43 year old who holds a medical degree from Universiti Hasanuddin in Makassar, Indonesia is also Johor Pakatan Harapan secretary.

He arrived at the palace this morning at 8.45am.

Speculation on Sahruddin, a Bersatu rep, being the front runner to fill the vacant menteri besar post intensified when he was seen alongside Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad at the 9th Malaysia-Singapore Leaders’ Retreat in Putrajaya last week, while Osman was absent.

Osman himself had tendered his resignation to Johor ruler Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar yesterday.

It is yet to be seen whether Sahruddin would be reshuffling the state exco line-up as requested by the sultan.
