Security alert disrupts Monash University Malaysia as police investigate bomb threat
KUALA LUMPUR, June 5 — Monash University Malaysia said today that normal operations have resumed at its Sunway City campus after police cleared a bomb threat reported last night.
The university said it had responded to a security alert involving a possible bomb threat on campus and carried out a comprehensive security check with authorities.
“Following a comprehensive security check, the Subang Jaya District Police Station has confirmed that the situation is now all clear and the Sunway City campus is safe to resume normal operations today, 5 June,” it said in a statement posted on its official Facebook page.
The university said the campus reopened today after police confirmed there was no longer any threat.
However, it said its Clinical School Johor Bahru campus will remain closed until further notice.
Monash University Malaysia also thanked staff, students and visitors for their cooperation and support throughout the incident.
The university did not provide further details on the nature of the threat or whether any suspicious items were found during the security checks.
