YPM ‘Back to School’ programme to benefit 40,000 students

KUALA LUMPUR: The MARA Education Foundation (YPM) will provide schooling aid to 44,400 students throughout the country under the YPM ‘Back To School’ programme with an allocation of over RM2.6 million.
Rural Development Minister Datuk Dr Abd Latiff Ahmad said the educational corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme involves the provision of school aid to B40 category students to reduce their parents’ financial burden.
In addition, Abd Latiff said the aid would help less fortunate students in rural areas to follow school sessions properly and encourage them to achieve academic excellence.
“Last year, 31,758 primary and secondary school students were identified by district education offices to receive aid under this programme with a total cost of RM1.8 million,” he said in a statement here today.
Abd Latiff, who is also Mersing MP, said the YPM’s educational CSR programme, which is being held for the first time in the district, also provides various special schooling aid to 500 students, including YPM adoption scheme and the YPM ‘Celik al-Quran’ programme worth a combined total of RM80,000.- Bernama
