Yapeim DG suspended over anti-PH video
PUCHONG: The Islamic Economic Development Foundation (Yapeim) has suspended its director-general Abibullah Samsudin pending an investigation into an alleged wrongdoing by the latter.
Yapeim chairperson Mohd Daud Bakar said an investigation committee has been set up to probe Abibullah for allegedly warning the foundation’s staff against voting for Pakatan Harapan in the last general election.
“The investigation committee will ask him to attend (the hearing) to give a statement and assist in the investigation,” said Daud, in a statement.
Yapeim director Parihah Hasan will be appointed as acting director-general during Abibullah’s absence.
During an external audit by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Malaysia recently, a video was found allegedly showing Abibullah warning Yapeim staff against voting for Pakatan Harapan.
“I know there are those among you who choose Pakatan Harapan.
“Yes, it is secret, but I will check one by one. I will go to the Election Commission (EC) […] and I will check one by one where you voted and who you voted for.
“If you vote for Pakatan Harapan, you are not qualified to work in Yapeim. Go find work with DAP,” said the man, clad in a blue batik shirt.
Following the expose, PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil lodged a police report against Abibullah.
