Woman held with drugs worth RM150,000 in car

KUALA LUMPUR: A 27-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly carrying 50 slabs of drugs believed to be ganja in a car in Seri Kembangan near here.
Police said the drugs, packed in three gunny sacks in the boot, weighed 49 kg, are worth about RM150,000, and could be used by 5,000 to 10,000 people.
Serdang OCPD ACP Ismadi Borhan said the woman was driving a Toyota Vios when she was stopped at about 6 pm on Tuesday.
“Investigations show that the suspect is unemployed and new to the activity, and that she brought in the drugs through Kelantan for distribution in the Klang Valley,” he told a press conference at the Serdang police headquarters today.
Police believe the woman is part of a syndicate and they are looking for other suspects, including the mastermind.
The woman, whose urine test was positive for methamphetamine, has been remanded for seven days until April 23 for investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, he said.
Ismadi also said 310 people had been arrested for suspected involvement in online gambling between Jan 1 and April 16 this year.
Police also seized 880 case exhibits, including cash of RM20,942, laptops, computers and handphones worth a total of RM70,000.
He urged the public to tip off the police if they knew of any online gambling syndicates.
