Warning of thunderstorms in several areas nationwide until 2 am
KUALA LUMPUR: The Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning for thunderstorms in several areas throughout the country with heavy rain and strong winds until 2 am.
MetMalaysia in a statement said the states expected to be affected are the federal territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan, Penang, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor.
According to the statement, areas expected to experience the similar weather in Perak are Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Central Perak, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim apart from Pulau Langkawi, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu in Kedah.
“Besides that, in Kelantan areas such as Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Kota Bharu, Bachok, Machang and Pasir Puteh with Besut, Setiu and Kuala Nerus in Terengganu would also be having such bad weather,” the statement said.
In Pahang, areas expected to experience bad weather are Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Pekan and Rompin apart from Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat and Sepang in Selangor.
In Sarawak, the affected areas are Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Kapit (Song, Kapit dan Bukit Mabong), Bintulu, Miri (Subis, Beluru, Miri and Marudi) and Limbang as well as the interior (Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort and Keningau) and West Coast (Papar) in Sabah.
