Unofficial: BN’s Wee leading the Tanjung Piai race with nearly 10k votes

PONTIAN: Unofficial results released by the Elections Commission (EC) revealed that Barisan Nasional’s Datuk Seri Wee Jeck Seng is leading in the Tanjung Piai by-election race.

The unofficial tally showed that Wee has garnered 15,589 votes compared to Pakatan Harapan’s Karmaine Sardini who garnered 5,857 votes. It shows that Wee is leading with a majority of nearly 10,000 votes.

Gerakan’s Wendy Subramaniam managed to garner only 947 votes.

It is learnt that Wee managed to secure a lot of votes from Malay-majority district polling areas. The BN leader also managed to secure a comfortable number of votes from areas dominated by the non-Malays.
