Unemployed man claims trial to kidnapping six-year-old Albertine Leo, seven charges of possessing porn
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 8 — A 31-year-old unemployed man has reportedly claimed trial to abducting and illegally confining six-year-old girl Albertine Leo Jia Hui last month.
The Star reported Leang Win Son was charged under Section 363 of the Penal Code, and can be jailed up to seven years and fined if found guilty.
He pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court in Johor Baru in front of Justice Rasidah Ruslee.
The charge sheet stated that the accused allegedly abducted the girl from her mother at Eko Galleria 3 along Jalan Eko Botani 3/2 in Iskandar Puteri at around 8.30pm on July 20.
He was also charged with wrongfully confining the child inside a hotel room on Jalan Mahogani 9, Batang Kali in Hulu Selangor, Selangor at around 4.45am on July 23.
Leang’s bail was set at RM20,000. He was ordered to surrender his passport, to report to the nearest police station monthly, and to stay clear of the witnesses.
Bernama reported that he also claimed trial to seven charges of possessing pornographic materials.
Yesterday, Johor police chief M. Kumar said the suspect would face 15 separate charges:
- Kidnapping under Section 363 of the Penal Code
- Wrongful confinement under Section 346 of the Penal Code
- Seven counts of possession of obscene material under Section 292 of the Penal Code
- Four counts for obtaining, collecting, or requesting child sexual abuse material under Section 8(b) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017
- Possessing child sexual abuse material under Section 10 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017
- Non-physical sexual assault under Section 15(a)(ii) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017
