Umno not Hotel U-turns

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno vice president Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob revealed that ex-Umno reps who quit the party would probably be making U-turns soon.

He reminded the ex-Umno reps to not expect to regain the positions that they had lost in Umno.

“In Sabah one have already done so. We have agreed to accept those who return to Umno but this party has its own rules,” he said in reference to ex-Papar Umno Youth chief, Rahim Ismail.

“Those who left and want to return have reapply to become Umno members. They would not be given special treatment even if they had held top positions at division and branch levels,” added Ismail who is also Bera MP.

“Umno is not a hotel where you can check in and out anytime,” he said.

“We don’t shut our doors to anyone. Umno is open to all Malays and Bumiputeras. Anyone can join us,” he said.

Ismail however stopped short of naming others who would be returning back to Umno.

The devastating results of the 14th general election resulted in many ditching Umno in Sabah.

Currently Umno has one state assemblyman and one MP only – Sungai Sibuga state rep Datuk Seri Musa Aman and Kinabatangan MP, Datuk Seri Bung Mokhtar Radin.
