Umno leader: Hisham needs a dressing down for his treachery

PUCHONG: An Umno leader urged his party to take action against Sembrong MP Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, accusing the latter of colluding with rival, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.

Umno supreme council member Datuk Lokman Noor Adam alleged that Hishammuddin orchestrated the secret meeting between 22 BN MPs with PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali yesterday.

“Hishammuddin’s action is an insult to the BN team who worked hard to win the Tanjung Piai by-election.

“I wish to state on Oct 30, I had lodged a report with the Umno disciplinary committee about Hishammuddin’s involvement in inciting Umno leaders to join Bersatu,” he said, in a statement.

Yesterday, there were reports that several BN and PKR lawmakers visited Azmin’s residence in Putrajaya. They left his residence at 10.40am.

Among those spotted there were Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin, Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Kamaruddin Jaafar and BN MP Ramli Mohd Noor.

Several quarters have speculated Azmin and Hishammuddin were planning to secure support for Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to remain at helm, following Pakatan Harapan’s disastrous defeat at Tanjung Piai.

Lokman urged Umno leadership to take stern action against Hishammuddin for working with their political rivals.

“I call for investigations and disciplinary action to be taken against those trying to influence Umno leaders to support Mahathir or Azmin.

“Hishammuddin’s action goes against the Umno supreme council decision, which decided that it will not cooperate with any Pakatan party.

“No one should continue to defend Hishammuddin’s betrayal. Umno must act on this treachery,” he said.

Meanwhile in Facebook post today, Hishammuddin dismissed Lokman’s accusation, saying he was not involved in the secret meeting at all.

“The allegation that I masterminded the meeting between opposition MPs and Azmin is not true. It was not my doing at all.

“However, if Umno wants to investigate me, go ahead. I have nothing to hide,” said the former Umno vice president.
