UAE woman wakes up from coma 27 years after car accident.
An Emirati woman woke up from a coma after 27 years. She woke up calling out her son’s name.
Munira Abdulla and her son, Omar Webair were part of a massive car crash in the year 1991. Munira, who was 32 years old at the time, went to pick up her 4-year-old son from school.
On their drive back the car collided into a school bus, which left Munira with a very serious brain injury that resulted in a coma.
Omar came out of the accident with a bruise on his head as he was cradled by his mother right before the impact.
The doctor’s looking at the condition of the injuries believed that Ms. Abdulla would never wake up.
According to an interview given to an Emirati news website, the incident is considered a miracle.
Her son Omar Webair, 32, said, “I never gave up on her because I always had a feeling that one day she will wake up.”
He added, “I was four when the accident happened, and we used to live in Al Ain. That day, there was no bus at the school to take me home. My mother was sitting with me in the back seat. When she saw the crash coming she hugged me to protect me from the blow. There were no mobile phones and we could not call an ambulance. She was left like that for hours.”
He said, “To me, she was like gold, the more time passed by, the more valuable she became.”
Because of his mother’s condition, Omar was never able to keep a job but he still managed to be by her side.
“I never regretted it. I believe that, because of my support for her, God saved me from bigger troubles,” he added.
When the case came to UAE’s Crown Prince Court’s attention, they gave the family a grant to take care of the bills.
Ms. Abdulla is now better and talking and reciting verses of the Quran. She recently visited the Shiekh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi.
