Two unemployed youths charged with attempted murder

KUALA LUMPUR: Two unemployed youths were charged in the Selayang Sessions Court here today with attempting to murder and causing injuries to a man, last May.

Moi Kai Man, 21, and M. Tamil Arasan, 19, both pleaded not guilty after the charges were read out to them before Judge Syafeera Mohd Said.

The duo were jointly charged with attempting to murder Tan Shen Sheong, 29, and inflicting injuries to the victim at a premises at Lebuhraya Pinggiran, Batu Caves here at 9.40pm on May 13.

The charge framed under Section 307 (1) of the Penal Code and read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code provides for a maximum jail term of 20 years, upon conviction.

Both accused were allowed bail of RM12,000 with one surety each with additional conditions that they report to the nearest police station and to refrain from harassing the victim.

The court then fixed June 24 for mention of the case.
