Trailer carrying scrap rubber overturns on railway track

KUANTAN: A trailer carrying scrap rubber overturned at the railway track in Kuala Krau, Temerloh near here, early Monday morning.

Temerloh police chief ACP Zundin Mahmood said the trailer which was carrying scrap rubber from Jerantut to Ipoh, Perak collided with a lorry at Kilometre 26 Jalan Jerantut-Temerloh at about 12.15 am.

“The accident is believed to have occurred when the trailer driver could not avoid a lorry which came out of a junction suddenly causing the vehicles to crash into each other.

“The impact of the accident caused the trailer to skid into an oil palm plantation beside the road before overturning across the railway track,” he said when contacted here today.

Zundin added the lorry driver, S. Kulanathan, 26, was pronounced dead upon arrival at Jerantut Hospital due to serious head injuries.

The trailer driver, 42, suffered light injuries while his 17-year-old attendant was unhurt.
