Toddler drowns after falling into the sea

LABUAN: A 21-month-old toddler drowned after falling into the sea from a dilapidated water-village house in Sebor, Saguking, here on Wednesday night, police said today.

The parents of the girl, Nor Saidah Abdul Said, found their daughter floating in the water under their house at about 11 pm while searching for her, said Labuan Police chief Supt Muhamad Farid Ahmad.

“The toddler is believed to have fallen through a fragile part of the plywood wall of the bedroom,” he told a press conference here.

The girl was alone in the bedroom, he said, adding that her parents were in the living room then.

Muhamad Farid said the parents pulled her out of the water and tried to revive her but failed and took her to the Labuan Nucleus Hospital.

The hospital confirmed that the girl had drowned, he said.
