TMJ meets Johor Umno & PAS youth chiefs amidst tiff over MB post

JOHOR BARU: In the midst of the ongoing tiff over the appointment a new Johor Menteri Besar, Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, better known as TMJ, met all 26 Umno and PAS youth chiefs of Johor.

Johor Umno Youth chief Mohd Hairi Md Shah confirmed that the meeting with the prince took place on Thursday.

“The meeting involved all 26 state Umno youth division chiefs and two PAS youth leaders, which lasted for about two hours.

“We were able to discuss and present our ideas. The main agenda was on development in the state and the right path to take,” he said in a statement.

Mohd Hairi also said that Tunku Ismail was open to engaging with any parties who wanted to share their views in the interest of the state.

“We will be together with Tunku Ismail in upholding the sovereignty of the royal institution, especially in Johor,” he said.

This is the first time a sitting crown prince have had a meeting with the opposition parties. In the past there have been instances of royalties venturing into politics.

One such example is Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, a Kelantan prince and long time Gua Musang MP.
