Three reticulated pythons caught in Kuala Nerus yesterday
KUALA NERUS: Three reticulated pythons were caught in separate locations by the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) yesterday.
Terengganu JBPM operations commander Mohd Roslan Zakaria said the first snake was caught on a tree at Teluk Ketapang recreational park, here last night.
He said following an emergency call at 9.35 pm, 12 firefighters from the Kuala Terengganu and Kuala Nerus fire stations with two fire engines and an Aerial Ladder Platform (ALP) were rushed to the location.
“It took us about 10 minutes to catch the snake by lifting three firemen using the ALP to the tree branch,” he told reporters here last night.
Roslan said his department also caught another reticulated python by the roadside near Sultan Mahmud Airport.
“The two-metre-long snake was discovered by the firemen on their way back to the station after catching the first snake at Teluk Ketapang,” he explained.
Meanwhile, he said, a one-metre-long reticulated python, was handed over by the members of the public to the Kuala Nerus fire station yesterday.
Mohd Roslan said the snake was caught by villagers in a chicken coop in Kampung Tok Jembal here.
All snakes will be turned over to the Wildlife Department today for further action.
