KLUANG: Three female cow elephants were found dead at a plantation area of a village in Kluang after they are believed to have ingested poison.

“The villagers of Kampung Sri Timur 3 noticed that the elephants were lying motionless on the ground for some time.

“They immediately reported the incident to the police as they suspected that the elephants were dead,” said Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Abduh Ismail, adding the police received information about the incident at 9.30am yesterday.

He also said that this was the first time such an incident occurred in the area.

Johor Perhilitan director Salman Saaban confirmed that the elephants had ingested poison and the matter was being investigated.
