Third and final attempt to disqualify Gopal Sri Ram fails

PUTRAJAYA: Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s third and final attempt to disqualify Datuk Seri Gopal Sri Ram from being the lead prosecutor in three of his cases has failed.
The application to oust Gopal was unanimously rejected by a panel of judges led by Chief Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat after deliberating the matter for an hour.
Najib who is the applicant in this case was represented by his lead counsel, Muhammad Shafee Abdullah. DPP Ahmad Akram Gharib represented the government.
Najib who is the defendent in the SRC trial would be facing trial his next case involving 1Malaysia Development Board’s RM2.28 billion on Aug 19 before Kuala Lumpur High Court judge Collin Lawrence Sequerah.
Gopal Sri Ram is the lead prosecutor in both the cases.
