KUALA LUMPUR: Former Umno youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin has declined Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia’s (PPBM) offer for him to join its ranks.
“I’m quite happy where I am. Thank you,” said Khairy at the Parliament today.
Last week, PPBM chairperson Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has urged Umno members to join its ranks in order strengthen unity among the Malay community.
Responding to Mahathir’s invitation, Khairy urged Umno members not to take Mahathir’s offer lightly as he was a statesman and a father figure to many.
Yesterday, PPBM youth chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman invited Khairy to join PPBM’s fold as Umno was veering to the right with its collaboration with PAS.
Khairy is known to be a moderate and a champion of centrist policies.
