Teacher accused of sexually abusing his students granted bail

AYER KEROH: A teacher has pleaded not guilty at the Ayer Keroh Sessions Court in Malacca today on charges of sexually assaulting his two male student four years ago.

The accused, Ahmad Muzamil Pandak, 31, made the plea after all four of his charges were read out by a court interpreter before Justice Norma Ismail.

According to the first and second charges, the accused allegedly lured the 11-year-old boy (at the time of the incident) to commit extreme acts of obscenity.

For the third and fourth charges, the accused committed the same act against another 12-year-old boy (at the time of the incident).

All these offenses were committed at the village bed in Taman Tasik Utama, Ayer Keroh, between 2am and 3am on October 24 and 25, 2015.

The accused was charged under Section 377C of the Penal Code which provides for imprisonment of not less than five years and not more than 20 years, and whipping upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Mazuin Hashim sought RM20,000 bail for each charge as both victims were his students.

However, the teacher, represented by lawyer Muhammad Al-Hirzan Mahamad End, appealed for the bail amount to be reduced on grounds that his client had been indicted on the same case and had just begun work this month after being suspended.

Justice Norma then allowed a bail worth RM10,000 on all charges. The accused was also barred from contacting the victims and their families.

The court set Jan 6 for the case’s re-mention and submission of documents.
