Taiwan’s Ally Logistic Property to invest RM500m in Malaysia’s first multi-storey smart cold chain facility
KUALA LUMPUR, May 19 — Taiwan-based Ally Logistic Property (ALP) announced a RM500 million investment to develop what it says will be Malaysia’s first developer-built multi-storey automated cold chain facility in Shah Alam, Selangor.
Known as OMEGA 2 Shah Alam, the nine-acre project in southern Shah Alam is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2028 and will serve industries including food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, retail and e-commerce.
The facility will feature about 577,000 sq ft of built-up space and over 30,000 pallet positions within its Automated Storage and Retrieval System (AS/RS), according to ALP.
ALP Malaysia managing director Bryan Yeo said the project aims to address growing demand for modern cold chain infrastructure amid increasing reliance on temperature-controlled logistics across multiple sectors.
“Malaysia’s cold chain infrastructure market remains relatively underserved in terms of automation, scalability and energy efficiency,” he said in a statement.
“OMEGA 2 Shah Alam is designed to address these gaps through a smarter and more sustainable cold chain solution.”
The facility will incorporate ambient, air-conditioned, chilled and frozen storage zones under a multi-tenant model, allowing multiple supply chains to operate within a shared infrastructure ecosystem.
ALP said the approach is expected to reduce duplication of logistics assets and lower energy consumption across supply chain operations.
The company added that the project aligns with Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) and New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030, which focus on sustainable industrial growth and advanced technology adoption.
Chief executive officer of Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid described the development as a high-value and technology-driven investment supporting the country’s industrial transformation agenda.
He said projects such as OMEGA 2 Shah Alam would help strengthen supply chain resilience, accelerate Industry 4.0 adoption and reinforce Malaysia’s position as a regional logistics hub.
Meanwhile, Invest Selangor chief executive officer Dato Hasan Azhari said the project aligns with Selangor’s ambition to become a hub for high-value and technology-driven industries.
Founded in Taiwan in 2014, ALP develops and operates smart logistics infrastructure across Taiwan and Southeast Asia.
The company said it has deployed more than US$1.8 billion in investments across the region together with its partners, including about US$800 million in OMEGA projects over the past two years.
