Tabung Haji asset stripping: Gov’t must be transparent to the public

Lembaga Tabung Haji, Minister at the Prime Minister Office Datuk Seri Mujahid Yusof Rawa and Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng must give an immediate explanation on the order for TH Hotel & Residence to cease its hospitality services operations of its four assets, which took effect yesterday.

After the Pakatan Harapan government failed to explain the selling of its two subsidiary companies and palm oil plantation owned by TH Plantation Berhad recently, now Lembaga Tabung Haji wants to terminate the operation of their four commercial assets, which is being taken over by Urusharta Jemaah Sdn Bhd (UJSB), a company owned by the Finance Ministry.

With this decision, Tabung Haji assets will be taken over by UJSB, which in turn, would allow the assets to be sold to other parties.

The government must justify this recent decision to the public. Are the four assets experiencing financial difficulties?  Is UJSB going to manage the premises from now or it is going to be sold to other parties?

The assets taken over by UJSB now are TRX KL land (RM196 million), Platinum Park (RM486 million) and Presint 4 Putrajaya land (RM92 million).

We are worried about these assets, which is worth RM1.4 billion on paper. What does the government mean by ‘recovery process’ when the assets are being stripped from Lembaga Tabung Haji and given away to other parties whimsically?

The government must provide detailed information on the matter urgently.
