Syed Saddiq: Armada backs Dr M, will not work with ‘tainted’ leaders

PUCHONG: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) youth wing, Armada, said that it would stand by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to continue as Malaysia’ s prime minister.

Breaking his silence, Armada chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman also said that they will abide by Mahathir’s decisions, which includes shunning Umno.

“The meeting by the youth wing unanimously agreed to support Mahathir to remain as prime minister to safeguard national interests.

“We welcome Malay unity but only in the name of principle and integrity. We will never collaborate with those who are tainted, such as robbers and traitors of the people’s mandate when they were in power,” he said, via a statement.

On Sunday, Mahathir was said to have been pressured by Bersatu to renege on the power transition plan and form a pact with Umno-PAS.

However, the nonagenarian was said to be against both ideas. Upset with the matter, Mahathir quit his premiership and relinquished his Bersatu chairmanship.

Bersatu followed up by quitting from Pakatan Harapan, triggering a political crisis.

Mahathir then returned as an interim prime minister on the advice of Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
