Students get a taste of aviation at Senai Airport

JOHOR BAHRU: A group of 110 students from 16 schools in the state were given a taste of aviation at the Senai International Airport (LTAS) here recently.

The students were participating in the two-day Senai Airport Aerocamp 2019 which aimed to increase awareness of job opportunities in the aerospace industry and provide exposure to the various professions involving flight operations, landing operations services, flight safety, business development as well as maintenance and engineering.

According to a statement from the Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd, the students, aged between 12 and 17 years, participated in a career development session organised by LTAS and the Asia Aeronautical Training Academy (AATA) before they were taken on a visit of the airport area to learn about its functions and operations.

Senai Airport Terminal Services chief executive officer Md Derick Basir said the aviation sector was constantly expanding with increasing demand for air travel in the future.

“This means that there will be more jobs that can be filled by the local community. So we want to instill knowledge in the younger generation so that they can chart their career paths early,” he said.
