SMK Seri Kota Puteri 2 examination centre to be relocated
JOHOR BAHRU: The PT3 and Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination centre at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Seri Kota Puteri 2, Masai here, will be relocated to another school if the authorities fail to control the Taman Perindustrian Kota Puteri illegal landfill fire.
State Education, Human Resource and Technology Committee chairman Aminolhuda Hassan said the move was to prevent any adverse effects on candidates sitting for the Form 3 Assessment and SPM examination later this month as the illegal dump site was just about a kilometre away from the school.
“If the fire cannot be controlled we will have to move (to another school) so that students will be able to sit for their examination in peace and without any disruption. I am at the school today to assess the situation,” he said when met at SMK Seri Kota Puteri 2.
A total of 100 students will be sitting for PT3 while 124 will be sitting for SPM at the school.
Aminolhuda hoped the authorities, including firefighters, would be able to douse the flames soon so that the 548 students of the school could continue with their classes.
The fire which had affected 1.6 hectares of the 2.4 hectare illegal dumpsite had been burning since Sept 7.
