Sathianathan peeved at Selangor’s failure to collect full points

SHAH ALAM: Selangor head coach B Sathianathan was a disappointed man last night when Selangor were held to a 1-1 draw by Police in their Malaysia Cup match at Shah Alam Stadium.

Sathinathan said his charges frequently lost control of the ball in the midfield and failed to seize the opportunities to score.

“It was of course difficult to play on a wet pitch but this is not an excuse as I have told them to run from the flanks but we were losing control in the midfield.

“I saw poor performances coming from several players, and as the coach I will reprimand them if they continue to make the same mistakes,” he told a media conference after the match.

He may have to also take the risk of resting several players who were uninspiring in the coming matches.

Meanwhile, Police coach, E Elavarasan said luck was on their side as Selangor dominated the game.

“Despite collecting only one point, I think it would motivate my players for the following matches,” he said.

In the game, Selangor went ahead via a Sandro Da Silva goal in the 52nd minute before Police equalised through Argzim Redzovic in the 59th minute.
