Sabah Health Department denies viral messages on red zone warnings

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Health Department yesterday, denied two messages disseminated on social media over red zone warnings involving, several districts and the fish market, as well as the case of two positive COVID-19 patients who purportedly fled from Queen Elizabeth Hospital (HQE).

“These two messages are not true,” said its director Datuk Dr Christina Rundi in a statement, here yesterday.

Since yesterday, social media postings said, several places in Sabah had been declared as red zones and asked the public not to visit the fish market as it alleged the presence of an individual with COVID-19, as well as a message on two COVID-19 patients escaping from HQE.

In the meantime, Christina also advised the public not to panic and refrained from disseminating unverified information on COVID-19.

Members of the public are also advised to obtain the official information at the Health Ministry’s website at moh.gov.my, while in Sabah, they can obtain information on health services through the COVID-19 operation centre at all health facilities in the state.
