Report: Jho Low is in China, with business in Hong Kong
PUCHONG: Fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho who is wanted in Malaysia for allegedly being the mastermind behind the 1Malaysia Development Board scandal is residing in China, reported local Chinese language daily, Sin Chew Jit Poh.
The elusive businessman better known as Jho Low has been travelling between Hong Kong, Macau, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Beijing and Hainan in China, the daily said, quoting sources.
The daily also stated that there are reports stating that Jho Low possesses a resident card in Hong Kong with permits to own luxury residence in the city where his company is operating.
Jho Low’s Malaysian passport was cancelled in June last year. St Kitts and Nevis too deactivated his passport in the same month.
Putrajaya has requested for Beijing’s help to trace the wanted businessman and Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is expected to raise this issue again during China’s second Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) summit.
The summit will be held end of this month.
