Ramadan for Dorsett Grand Labuan sharing kindness

LABUAN: Over 500 servings of steaming hot bubur lambuk (porridge) were snapped up in under half an hour by passers-by and motorists passing through Dorsett Grand Labuan at Jalan Merdeka here this afternoon.

The distribution of the porridge came courtesy of Dorsett Grand Labuan, whose kitchen team prepared the traditional delicacy with various herbs and spices.

Hotel general manager Masni Shaik Dali said the porridge was given to motorists and passers-by here in conjunction with Ramadan next week.

“It was not just about the coming Ramadan, because we also give it to anyone who wishes to try or enjoy the delicacy,” she told reporters.

The event was also led by Labuan police chief Supt. Muhamad Farid Ahmad.

“It is the Dorsett’s way of getting closer to the people and spreading goodwill during this coming holy month,” she said.

The culinary team led by chef Ray Ronald Masigi started the preparations and cooking early morning in several large pots before it was ready by 11am.

The team then began packing the porridge in containers before the distribution began at noon to 12.30pm.

Several of the hotel’s dedicated team led by marketing communication executive Ghilorene Gabriel, F&B assistant manager Michale Andin and executive Mohd Shaluddin held huge containers, pot and placards with words ‘Bubur Lambuk’ stood along the main road in front of the hotel, leading motorists and passers-by to the hotel entrance.
