Quit concocting tales, Wee tells Guan Eng after claim on new school bus colour rule

KUALA LUMPUR – Transport Minister Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong has denied an allegation that the Road Transport Department (RTD) imposed a new rule requiring school bus bumpers to be painted blue for inspection at the Computerised Vehicle Inspection Centre (Puspakom).

In a Facebook post last night, he shared a statement by RTD and Puspakom regarding the claim made by Bagan MP Lim Guan Eng two days ago.

The rules on the colours and markings on all school buses are still in force, and no changes have been made by RTD, in accordance with the School Bus (Colours and Marks) Rules 1987.

“Under the rules, all school buses in operation must be painted amber, while the wording ‘Bas Sekolah’ must be in black,” said Wee.

He said the supposed “new” rule was never issued to any school bus operator in the country.

Lim, in a Facebook post, claimed that school bus owners have complained to him about the new ruling by the Transport Ministry and Puspakom, which would see them incurring additional costs.

Wee said Lim is “just making up stories” without providing solid evidence, and called on the latter to stop slandering others for political gain.

RTD and Puspakom advised all parties to get accurate and verified information through government agencies before disseminating it on social media. – Bernama
