‘Questioning PM’: Former radio jockey called up for investigation

PUCHONG: The police have called upon a well known former radio jockey to facilitate in an investigation for alleged criminal intimidation against Prime Minister Tun Mahathir Mohamad.

It is learned that Sri Shankar Ganesh, popularly known as Funky Shankar, was also called for an investigation by the Dang Wangi district police headquarters for allegedly misusing Internet facilities.

Shankar is scheduled to give his statement to the police on Feb 3.

According to the police, Shankar is being probed under Section 504 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

Upon checking, the first video, posted three days ago, shows Shankar challenging Mahathir to take rest for 30 days and allow him to become the prime minister instead.

Shankar said that in that way, the former radio jockey would be able to show that he could do a better job reforming the nation.

However, Shankar did not specify how he would become the PM, as the Federal Constitution clearly stipulates that only an MP, who commands the majority support of the Dewan Rakyat, can be appointed as premier, with the consent of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

The second video, published twelve hours ago, shows Shankar calling for an interview session with Mahathir, to ask the latter hard hitting questions on his policies and direction for the country.

He also accused the government of sidelining the Indian community and berated Indian Cabinet ministers for keeping mum about it.

Shankar had since removed his first video but the second video is still available online.

The time is always right to do what is right. 🇲🇾

#VoiceForTheVoiceless #GreatSultanOfJohor #HonourableTunDrMahathir#Malaysia 🇲🇾 A decent challenge with democracy rights with respect for the age and years of experience to Tun Dr Mahathir. Pls remember I'm a normal person like everyone who wants the equal rights to be offered to every Malaysian. I'm no party member of any party groups. I'm not funded by anyone and I do this by myself with the love of Malaysia. I'm a proud Malaysian and a solo individual who wants to fight for our rights. I don't need likes, shares, opportunities, publicity, favours, positions and greed. I'm here to voice for the voiceless. I have the guts to voice because I want to make sure that I am born on the same earth as many great messengers and great leaders who fought for the people. I want to be a human. All great souls thought us to defend the rights for all humans. I'm doing my part to question the leaders to treat everyone equal and fair. What they are doing to us is unfair and unreasonable. People may choose to ignore but I choose to fight for the equal rights. Martin Luther king said the time is always right to do what is right. This is my video and I am doing my best in whichever way I can to argue for equal rights for everyone with zero expectations. We brought nothing and we bring absolutely nothing. Do the right thing as a human. As much Malaysia is for Malaysians. The leader should come foward to take up my challenge with integrity and honesty as a leader to answer this common man's question. Remember it's just an interview. I'm not asking for Mercedes-Benz and 50k bonus like the politicians. If we don't voice for the voiceless today, our next generation will blame this generation. Don't be silent and spoil our kids future. We need to defend our rights and equality.I have alot of questions. Kashmir, China, India, oli plam, 5G, government tenders, economy, broken promises, bad leadership and many other questions. 1 hour interview and that's all I request to Tun Dr Mahathir. My email is isaifmworld@gmail.com pls email me to confirm date time and venue. Our telecast can be invited by all TV stations and mainly by social media. Everything must be live n direct. Give me realstic answers that u are the greatest leader for 🇲🇾, I will fall on your feet and walk away but if Tun is not able to answer my questions with facts then the Malaysians must decide if Tun is capable to lead the country any further. This is my promise. Pls take up the challenge with great leadership. 💪 Love all serve all. 🙏#funkyshankar

Speaking to The Leaders Online, Shankar claimed that he had only urged Mahathir to step down and allow PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to take over the premiership.

“I challenged the prime minister to meet me in person to give his side of the story,” he said.

Shankar added that as a voter, he said that he has the right to speak up about issues affecting himself and the public.

“The government needs to remind itself that Malaysia is a democratic country,” he said, adding that the videos had one million views.
