Prime ministers, deputies salary cut off for COVID-19 fund

KUALA LUMPUR: The Cabinet decides to cut two months salary for prime ministers, ministers and deputies and donate to COVID-19 fund.
The Prime Minister’s Office, in a statement today said, the matter was decided at Cabinet meeting yesterday and the move was to prove the government’s willingness to help those affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.
The COVID-19 Fund was launched on March 11 as a government effort to help the people affected by the outbreak.
As of yesterday, the total donation amounted to the government included a grant of RM8,493,103.48.
Malaysia recorded 20 deaths and 1,796 COVID-19 positive cases so far.
Movement Control Order is in force in the country from March 18 to April 14 to fight against the outbreak.
