Pregnant woman escapes after ship hits house

SIBU: A pregnant housewife who was in the midst of having her bath had a shock of her life when a ship rammed into her riverine village house in Batang Igan, yesterday.

She quickly rushed out of the bathroom upon hearing shouts from her neighbours to get out of the house, said her husband, Abdul Razak.

He said that during the time of the 9.30am incident, only his wife who was seven months pregnant was in their rented house, adding that his two children were at school while he was at work.

As a result of the accident, the house was damaged, had tilted and was unsafe.

A spokesman for Sarawak Rivers Board (LSS) in Sibu said he was conducting further investigations into the incident.

Meanwhile, Sibu deputy police chief Supt Wong Chee Kiong, said that he had not received a full report of the incident.
