Pos Lenjang Orang Asli warded for malaria

PUCHONG: A total of 10 Orang Asli in Pos Lenjang, Kuala Lipis in Pahang have fallen ill, suspected to be due to plasmodium vivax malaria. Of this number nine have been warded.
“This is the most dangerous kind of Malaria. The disease had been contained in the past but the new outbreak shows that it has returned and is now affecting Orang Asli in Pos Lenjang,” said a source, reported Malaysiakini.
This is the second time the Orang Asli are facing a health outbreak.
In April, the Batek tribe in Kampung Kuala Koh, Gua Musang in Kelantan lost a total of 13 people due to measles, according to the Health Ministry.
NGOs and activists however have raised doubts over the ministry’s official response. Post mortem reports of those who died in Kelantan has not surfaced yet.
