Policemen injured after lorry collide into roadblock

KUALA LUMPUR: A senior Kuala Lumpur police officer and four traffic policemen were injured, after a lorry collided into them at a roadblock along Jalan Syed Putra, midnight today.

According to Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief ACP Zulkefly Yahya, the incident occurred at about 12.45am today.

He said at that time, the police team were in the midst of setting up the roadblock at the location.

“However, a Mitsubishi Fuso lorry driven by a 45-year-old man collided into a multi-purpose vehicle and several motorcycles belonging to the police team.

“Upon investigation, the driver was believed to have lost control of the lorry, while on the left lane and collided into the police vehicles which were on the road shoulder,” Zulkefly said when contacted today.

He said all the injured were sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital while the lorry driver did not incur any injury.

“Police is investigating the case under Section 42 (1) of the Road Transport Act,” he said.
