Police in Mongolian women rape case slapped with human trafficking charges

KLANG: The police officer who allegedly raped two Mongolian women has been charged at the Sessions Court here today (April 29).

Insp Hazrul Hizham Ghazali, 30, claimed trial to two charges under Section 13 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants (Atipsom) Act.

Hazrul Hizham was accused of using his power to sexually exploit the two Mongolian women aged 20 and 36.

He had allegedly committed both offences at a boutique hotel in Petaling Jaya between 10.30pm on April 10 and 8.30pm on April 11.

If found guilty, Hazrul Hizham could be jailed between three to 20 years.

The charge was read before Sessions Court judge Tasnim Abu Bakar.

The judge fixed June 17 for the case to be mentioned and set bail at RM10,000 for each charge with one surety.

She also ordered for his international passport to be surrendered to the court as well as for the accused to report himself at a police station at the beginning of every month.

Mohammad Al-Saifi Hashim prosecuted while Shah Rizal Abdul Rahman and Nik Muammer Hurrie Mohamad Sukri appeared for the accused.

Tasnim also advised the media to not publish the names of the two women in their news reports.
